My passion for high quality care started when working in care in the mid 1990s. I have been conducting ageing and dementia research in universities such as Portsmouth, Southampton and the London School of Economics and Political Science. Material Citizenship, a new approach to dementia care stems from my PhD and collaborations with care organisations.

 

I developed Material Citizenship™ as I want care homes to be places in which both residents and staff flourish. 

 

Adopting Material Citizenship™ results in care staff feeling more confident and residents enjoying taking part in everyday activities that support their identity.
